Virgin car takes to the track

11:38 am on 5 February 2010

The new Virgin Racing Formula One car has completed its first laps with Germany's Timo Glock at the wheel at Silverstone's Stowe circuit in England.

Virgin are one of four completely new teams due to participate in the championship this season and the first to show off a car designed entirely by computer and without recourse to wind tunnels.

Glock raced for Toyota last season and says it was good to be back in a racing car and to see the VR-01 come alive.

The VR-01 was 10 months in the making, and will be taken for a full day of on-track evaluation by Glock and fellow Virgin driver Lucas di Grassi on the weekend.
