Ireland's football captain Robbie Keane was unable to help his new team Celtic gain some ground on the Scottish Premier League leaders Rangers, with the Glasgow side beaten 1-nil at Kilmarnock.
The striker was in Celtic's starting line-up after being signed on loan from Tottenham Hotspur yesterday and had several chances to score on debut, but was denied by keeper Cammy Bell.
Chris Maguire gave Kilmarnock the lead seven minutes into the second half and they held on for their first home league win against Celtic for nine years.
Celtic remain second on the ladder and trail Rangers by 10 points, while Hibernian are just two points behind the Glasgow club in third.
