Australia wins second womens ODI

The New Zealand women's cricket team has been well beaten by 8 wickets by Australia in the second one-day international in Mt Maunganui.

The tourists won the toss and decided to bowl first and had success straight away, picking up three wickets for 33 runs.

Captain Suzie Bates and Sophie Devine put on 73 runs for the fourth wicket with Devine finishing on 67 and Bates 61.

The White Ferns finished on 206 for 9 in their 50 overs.

Jess Jonassen took 5 wickets.

Meg Lanning and Ellyse Perry put on an unbeaten 147 run partnership for the third wicket to get Australia home with 9 overs to spare.

Lanning made 114 off 113 balls and Perry 64.

New Zealand won the first game by 9 runs.

The third and deciding game is in Mt Maunganui on Wednesday.

The White Ferns are in search of their first Rose Bowl trophy since 1998-99.
