Breakers fined $1000 for referee comments

The Australian National Basketball League has fined the New Zealand Breakers $1000 after guard CJ Bruton made comments about the referees to the media following last week's win to the Adelaide 36ers.

After the Breakers' 103-89 victory, Bruton told the Sunday Star Times newspaper there needed to be more consistency from the ANBL referees.

The fine was issued after the ANBL found Bruton was in breach of the rules on public criticism of officials.

$500 of the $1,000 fine has been suspended for 12 months and will only be payable if Bruton is found guilty of any additional infraction of the ANBL rules in that period.
