Hewitt suffers his worst-ever Australian Open loss

Australia's Lleyton Hewitt has suffered his worst-ever defeat at the Australian tennis Open after losing to world number one Roger Federer in straight sets.

Federer cruised through to his 23rd successive grand slam quarter-final with a 6-2 6-3 6-4 victory over the local player.

Hewitt says Federer was just too good for him, and is looking in even better shape than when they met at the US Open final in 2004.

Lleyton Hewitt will return to the top 20 ranked players at the conclusion of the Australian Open despite the fourth round loss.
