There were no more medals for New Zealand on the last day of the inaugural track cycling World Cup in Cambridge, after sprinter Eddie Dawkins lost his bronze medal final.

Dawkins was beaten twice in the best-of-three ride-off for third place in the men's sprint by German rider Maximilian Levy.

He earlier lost his semi-final series against Australian Matthew Glaetzer, who triumphed in both the first two races and went on to win the final against another German, Max Niederlag.

Earlier, Dawkins eliminated national teammate Sam Webster with two victories in the quarter-finals.

New Zealand veteran Hayden Roulston made his return to international track cycling competition in the Madison.

The Beijing 2008 silver medallist teamed up with Regan Gough in the 160-lap race at the Avantidrome, where they finished eighth.

France narrowly edged Switzerland for the gold medal, with the French winning in the final sprint by less than half a wheel.

New Zealand's Nick Kergozou won the flying lap in the men's Omnium but finished seventh overall.

New Zealand finished with three medals: silver in the men's sprint and men's team pursuit, and bronze in the women's team pursuit.
