The New Zealand tennis player Marcus Daniell and his Romanian partner Horia Tecau have won the doubles title at the Heineken Open in Auckland.
The wildcard combination beat the unseeded Brazilian pair of Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4.
Daniell from the Wairarapa has a doubles ranking of 670.
The last New Zealander to win a title at Auckland was Brett Steven, who won the doubles with Pat Galbraith in 1998.
