The New Zealand men's under 23 footballers have beaten Vanuatu 2-0 to reach the Pacific Games final in Papua New Guinea.

Monty Patterson rifled home a scrappy opener in the 47th minute following a corner, then nine minutes later Bill Tuiloma headed home from another corner to make it 2-0.

The Oly Whites will now play Fiji on Sunday for the title, and a place at next year's Rio Olympics, after the Fijians beat hosts Papua New Guinea 3-1 in the other semi.

The New Zealanders are yet to concede in their four matches so far.
