Lawson ousted from the mens singles at national bowls championship

Double world bowls champion, Gary Lawson, has been ousted from the mens singles competition, beaten by Belfast's Kelvin Scott 21-11 in the fourth round of post section play at the national championships in Wellington.

Another big casualty has been Stoke's Shannon McIlroy, defeated by Canada's Ryan Bester 21-6 in the third round.

In the womens pairs the khan sisters, Jan and Marina have been eliminated 19-12 by Lepperton's Lois Ritson in the third round of post section play.

Also a third round victim was Victoria's mother and daughter combination, Leigh and Kirsten Griffin, who have fallen to Wainuiomata's Maree Walsh 16-14.
