The Wellington Phoenix have fallen at the first hurdle of the A League football finals beaten 2 nil by Melbourne City in Wellington.

It's a disappointing end to a season that held plenty of promise when the Phoenix sat at the top of the competition mid-way through the season.
An uninspiring first half saw the scores locked at nil all at halftime, with both of Melbourne City's goals coming in the second half.
