The All Whites captain Winston Reid is still under an injury cloud as the side builds up to its first international of the year in South Korea next week.

Reid did not feature for West Ham United in their last match, a home win over Sunderland and is still recovering from a hamstring injury which has kept the 18-cap All White out of action in recent weeks.

All Whites coach Anthony Hudson says he is in constant contact with the 26-year-old and his club and Reid would be given every chance to be involved in the game against the 56th-ranked South Koreans in Seoul.

"Winston is our captain and leader and we will continue to monitor his situation closely," Hudson says.

"He is obviously an important member of our squad and we will give him every chance to be involved and we will make a final decision later in the week."

Men's under-20s and Wanderers SC central defender Adam Mitchell has been called into the All Whites squad as cover.

Meanwhile, midfielder Ryan Thomas has been ruled out of the tour due to a leg injury he picked up playing for his Dutch league side.

Men's under-20s and Wanderers SC midfielder Moses Dyer will replace Thomas in the squad for next Wednesday's match against the 56th-ranked Asian nation.

Hudson said while it was disappointing to lose Thomas, it provides another opportunity for a player with a bright future.

"In Moses, we are bringing in a player who has performed well in the ASB Premiership and, similar to Cameron coming in for Kosta [Barbarouses], at this stage of our campaign we are giving an opportunity to someone in the U-23 bracket with an eye on the future as well as the coming Olympic qualifiers."

The New Zealand-based players departed for Seoul on Monday morning.
