The New Zealand opener Martin Guptill will miss tonight's first of five one-day cricket international against Pakistan in Dubai.
Guptill is still suffering from a tight hamstring which kept him out of the second T20 international.
Meanwhile a decision is yet to be made on all-rounder Corey Anderson's availability for the match following being struck on the helmet in the first Twenty20 match.
Pakistan will put its world number six ranking on the line; they currently hold a slender two-point advantage over the Black Caps.
New Zealand have a chance to move clear of West Indies on 96 points but also leapfrog Pakistan into sixth position should it win the series convincingly.
