The American golfer Bubba Watson chalked up his first victory outside the United States in sensational style to win the $11 million WGC- Champions tournament in Shanghai.

Having lost the lead late on the final day, Watson holed an outrageous bunker shot for an eagle on the 18th hole to get into a playoff with South Africa's Tim Clark, and the Masters championship sealed the title with an eight-metre downhill putt for the winning birdie on the first extra hole.
Three other players, Graeme McDowell, Rickie Fowler and Japan's Hiroshi Iwata had been among five players tied for the lead late in the final round.
Left-hander Watson will jump to number three in the world rankings behind Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott.
