No Carter for Twickers

5:10 pm on 6 November 2014

The All Blacks will tackle England at Twickenham on Sunday morning without veteran star Dan Carter.

Aaron Cruden starts at first five with Beauden Barrett in the reserves, while Carter hasn't even made the bench.

The coach Steve Hansen says Carter's fitness is fine but the 32-year-old just isn't match-fit enough, and selecting Cruden to start with Barrett to finish was a no-brainer.

Despite not having played a full game of rugby in more than two years, Sonny Bill Williams has been named to start at second five.

The rest of the team selection's straightforward, with the matchday squad holding 1,029 Test caps between them at an average age of 27 years.

Aaron Smith's the halfback, Conrad Smith the centre, Israel Dagg is at fullback and the wings are Julian Savea and Ben Smith.

The loose forwards are Jerome Kaino, captain Richie McCaw and Kieran Read, while Dane Coles starts at hooker with Keven Mealamu the reserve rake.

Liam Messam's on the bench as loose forward cover with Sam Cane out with his sore back.
