Washout in Hamilton

4:31 pm on 27 October 2014

The New Zealand cricketers' final one day clash with South Africa has been called off due to rain in Hamilton.

The weather caused play to be suspended before 1pm, with the Proteas 157 for three in the 31st over.

Quinton de Kock was 80 not out with captain AB de Villiers stranded on 33.

Matt Henry was the pick of the hosts' bowlers with two for 40.

The washout means the tourists win the series 2-0, but they can't now hold onto the world number one ODI ranking.

The Black Caps won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Paceman Henry struck first, claiming the scalps of dangerous opener Hashim Amla, caught by Nathan McCullum for 12, and Rilee Roussow, caught and bowled for a duck.

Seamer Jimmy Neesham then clean bowled David Miller for 17.

The Proteas lead the three-match series 2-0 and can claim the number one world one-day ranking with a clean series sweep - but they can't do that if the match is abandoned.
