The Australian skipper Ricky Ponting is adamant his team won't take Pakistan lightly in the upcoming three-Test cricket series, which kicks off in Melbourne on Boxing Day.
Pakistan have won just one of nine Tests in 2009 but Ponting says they remain a formidable and dangerous unit despite their recent modest record.
Ponting says Australia's bid for success would rest with keeping Pakistan on the back foot.
He says as a package, Pakistan has a number of exceptional players.
Ponting says the Australian's job will be to try and restrict the Pakistan team from gelling and combining too well.
