After his side held off the Broncos to win Sunday's National Youth Competition Grand Final 34-32, Jones was confirmed as the coach of the New South Wales Cup side in 2015.

The former Warriors halfback replaces Rohan Smith, who has returned to Australia, while the current NYC assistant coach Kelvin Wright will take over the juniors.

Warriors general manager football Dean Bell says Jones' achievement in leading the side to a Premiership in his first season as coach was even more remarkable given the club's new policy of pushing the under-20 players up to the reserve grade.

That left Jones with a younger side, with a number of 17-year-olds making their debuts.

Warriors head coach Andrew McFadden says he also wants Jones to have a bigger role coaching the club's NRL players.
