It's been a tough day for the New Zealand eventers at the World Equestrian Games in France, with all but two of the riders out of the competition after a brutal day of cross country.

Jonelle Price and Andrew Nicholson are fourth and fifth respectively on a day where only 63 of the 90-strong field finished after heavy rain made the track tough work for the riders.
Price was a late call-up after the withdrawal of Carline Powell and is on 52.5 penalty points on Classic Moet, the same as Nicholson on Nereo heading into tomorrow's showjumping.
Jock Paget on Clifton Promise was the best placed New Zealander at the start of the day, but had a run out at the fifth fence and retired not long after.
The combination will now head to the Burghley International Horse Trials next week.
