Canterbury, Taranaki win big

The Canterbury rugby side has scored its third straight bonus point victory in the ITM Cup, thrashing Northland 48-3 in Christchurch.

The six-time defending champions have scored 154 points in three games and conceded just 39 points.

Canterbury, who previously have thumped Auckland and Waikato, continued their rampant run and appear odds on to add another title this year.

Canterbury were up 41-3 before the hour mark and scored six tries.

On Wednesday Taranaki scored their first win of the ITM Cup, beating Waikato 46-17 in Hamilton.

It is Taranaki's first win over Waikato since 2011 and their highest score since 2008.

The visitors dominated the game up front, while they scored six tries to two.
