The New Zealand golfer, Lydia Ko, has fallen short in her charge for a maiden major title, finishing third at the LPGA Championships in Rochester, New York.

Ko started the final round four shots behind the leader, American Brittany Linciome, and kept herself in contention with three birdies and a bogey on the front nine.
After a bogey on the 10th hole, the 17-year-old regrouped to rattle off three birdies in the next five holes and get within one of the lead.
However she was unable to keep the pressure on as she bogeyed the final two holes to sign for a two-under par 70 and an eight under total, 3 shots behind eventual winner Inbee Park of Korea.
Lincicome was unable to close out her second major title bogeying the final hole to force a playoff with Park.
Ko claimed a cool $177,000 for her efforts in New York, increasing her prize money earnings to more than 1.1 million dollars in her first season as a professional.
Ko would have become the youngest ever major winner with a victory, she'll have one more chance to win a major in her debut professional season at the Evian Championship in France next month.
