Star All White injured ahead of Phoenix game

The Wellington Phoenix will have to take the field without their star goalkeeper Mark Paston when they meet the Brisbane Roar in their football A-League game on Sunday.

Paston, who saved a penalty in the All-White's 1-0 win over Bahrain earlier this month, has been ruled out of this weekend's game with a dead leg after colliding with a team-mate during training on Wednesday.

Phoenix midfielder Leo Bertos says losing Paston ahead of Sunday's game is a big blow to the side, but expects his young substitute Reece Crowther to step up to the challenge.

Paston is expected to be back in action for the Phoenix next week when they meet Melbourne Victory in Wellington
