The England cricketers are well placed to level their five-match Test series against India after a good fourth day of the third match in Southampton.

Set a record target of 445 to win the match, India went to stumps on 112 for four, after the home captain Alistair Cook declared at 205 in their second innings.

The most any side has made in the fourth innings to win a Test is the West Indies' 418 for seven, achieved against Australia in the Caribbean 12 years ago.
