Hurricanes need more than a backline

The Hurricanes may be sporting an all-star backline, having added Ma'a Nonu to their already All Black-studded lineup, but their new coach isn't pretending that'll be enough to make the playoffs.

Chris Boyd seized on the opportunity to lure Nonu back from the Blues to his hometown franchise, where he'll play alongside Conrad Smith, Julian Savea, Cory Jane, Beauden Barrett and TJ Perenara.

But Boyd says a strong forward pack has always been the key to success in Super Rugby.

He says a good forward pack will win you championships and a good backline will win you matches.

Boyd says they are still searching for more cover in the loose forward positions, as well as another midfielder.
