The blockbusting Chiefs midfielder Robbie Fruean has switched his provincial rugby allegiances from Canterbury to Hawke's Bay.
Fruean's signed a two-year deal with the Magpies.
The 26-year-old's battled heart problems and hasn't played since the Chiefs played the Highlanders in Dunedin at the end of June - one of only four Super Rugby appearances this season.
Wellington-born, Freuan started his career with the Lions and the Hurricanes before heading south to Canterbury and the Crusaders.
