Van Gaal hoping Lady Luck on Dutch side

6:55 am on 10 July 2014

The Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal believes this morning's football World Cup semi-final against Argentina is too close to call and says Lady Luck will likely play her part.

Many commentators have labelled the match as a battle between Argentina's star striker Lionel Messi and super coach van Gaal, the man that substituted his goalkeeper for the Netherlands penalty shootout win over Costa Rica in the quarter-finals.

However van Gaal scoffed at suggestions one man would have such a heavy influence on the match.

He says the winner will need a healthy dose of good fortune.
