Nicholson wins Barbury again

The New Zealand equestrian Andrew Nicholson has won the Barbury International Horse Trial in the UK for the third consecutive time.

Nicholson on Avebury went clear on both the cross country and showjumping.

52-year-old Nicholson says to win here three times in a row on a horse that was born round there and is named after a local landmark feels pretty good.

Avebury is Nicholson's reserve horse for next month's World Equestrian Games and is also a back-to-back Burghley Horse Trial winner.

Nicholson is keen to complete that hat-trick at the September event.

Sir Mark Todd finished 9th at Barbury.
