Black Caps to play night test

The chief executives of New Zealand and Australia Cricket met in Melbourne last week to discuss the proposal, which is set to go ahead during the Black Caps tour of Australia late next year.

The discussions come after the ICC paved the way for countries to work together on staging test cricket under lights in 2012.

The chief executive of New Zealand Cricket David White says Cricket Australia has been at the forefront of developing a proposal for day-night test cricket and New Zealand Cricket is looking forward to contributing, especially in terms of helping develop a new pink ball for test conditions.

White says day-night test cricket will provide increased access for fans and greater commerical advantages by operating in a more appealing time zone for overseas broadcast markets.

He says they'll schedule a trial match in the upcoming season so they can examine such issues as dew and its affect on the ball.
