Black Caps fighting hard on day one of third test

6:19 am on 27 June 2014

The New Zealand cricketers were a short time ago 168 for 5 on day one of the third and deciding test against the West Indies in Barbados.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat the Black Caps lost openers Hamish Rutherford and Tom Latham early before Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor steadied the ship.

However the pair were both caught out just shy of their half centuries, before captain Brendon McCullum fell for 31.

Jimmy Neesham and BJ Watling are now at the crease, battling to lift the Black Caps to a respectable first innings total.

The three-test series is tied 1-all.
