Wanaka's Nicky Samuels has finished 13th in testing conditions at the latest ITU World Triathlon Series race, which took place in Chicago for the first time.
Samuels was joined by Whangarei's Simone Ackermann, who was 22nd, with Wellington's Kate McIlroy 31st after a puncture ruined any hopes of a top-10 finish.
Series leader Gwen Jorgensen won the race in imperious fashion on a hot and humid day, the tall and long-striding American erasing a 66-second deficit on the run to pull away and win comfortably from Helen Jenkins of Great Britain and Japan's Juri Ide.
