Tall Blacks name World Cup training squad

The New Zealand men's basketball coach Nenad Vucinic has named a 24-player squad to attend a training camp next month to prepare for the World Cup in Spain.

The 24 includes of a number of veteran Tall Black players with previous World Cup experience, including Kirk Penney, Mika Vukona, Tom Abercrombie, Benny Anthony, Lindsay Tait, Casey Frank and Alex Pledger.

A number of younger players from the US college system have also been named with Rob Loe, Isaac Fotu, Tai Webster and Jordan Ngatai.

The Southland Sharks players Reuben Te Rangi, Leon Henry and Shea Ili, who are awaiting sentencing on assault charges after a brawl in New Plymouth, have not been considered for the squad.

After the two-day camp in Auckland a 16-player roster will be chosen for the warm-up series against Korea before the final 12 are selected.
