New Zealand golfer Lydia Ko has deflected questions about her national allegiances, on the eve of the US Open in North Carolina.

Ko, who's ranked third in the world, will attempt to become golf's youngest ever major winner at Pinehurst, the venue that hosted the men's event last week.

However, the 17-year-old was forced to field questions about her nationality from reporters, but she maintains she's had no approaches from her country of birth, South Korea, to switch allegiances.

Ko says she's happy playing for New Zealand right now, but says she enjoys having strong support in both countries.
