Bike NZ's high performance director Mark Elliott is confident they can still build a strong men's road team for next month's Commonwealth Games, despite the withdrawl of the experienced Hayden Roulston because of injury.
The men's road team is now down to four after James Oram withdrew last week.
Elliott says there are a number of other high quality road riders around, while they could also call on a couple of track riders.
Elliott says they'll now be looking to build a team around someone else other than Roulston, such as Jack Bauer and Greg Henderson.
Elliott says Roulston had shared some thoughts on potential replacements and BikeNZ will make a decision in the coming weeks, with a number of the riders all competing in Europe.
