Black Caps captain praises batsmen after historic Caribbean win

The New Zealand cricket captain Brendon McCullum says the most pleasing aspect of his side's historic Test win over the West Indies was the way the Black Caps batsmen coped with the home side's spinners.

Chasing 403 to win, the Windies were dismissed for 216 late on the fourth day, giving the Black Caps a 186-run win.

The debutant off spinner Mark Craig claimed the best-ever bowling figures by a New Zealander on debut, finishing with match figures of eight for 188.

Having posted over 500 in the first innings the Black Caps were in charge throughout the game but given their past struggles against spin bowling McCullum says they negated Sulimen Ben and Shane Shillingford well.

The win is just New Zealand's second-ever Test victory in the Carribean.

The second Test starts in Port of Spain next Tuesday.
