Grand National jockeys boycott stewards inquiry

5:58 am on 12 June 2014

All 39 jockeys who rode in this years English Grand National Steeplechase at Aintree have refused to attend a stewards' inquiry after being cautioned for breaching the start rules.

Deliberations into the incident back in April, when the assistant starter Simon McNeill was knocked over, could not be completed after the jockeys failed to attend the inquiry, and the matter was referred to the British Horseracing Authority disciplinary panel.

The only rider not involved was Brendan Powell, whose mount refused to race on the day.
