The New Zealand batsmen have enjoyed the opening day so far in the first cricket test against the West Indies in Kingston.

After winning the toss the Black Caps lost Peter Fulton for 1, but since then Tom Latham has moved through to 75 and Kane Williamson 79 with the tourists 164 for 1 at tea.

The Otago off-spinner Mark Craig will make his debut, while Hamish Rutherford and Neil Wagner missed selection.

All-rounder Corey Anderson was ruled out yesterday with a neck muscle strain, while Luke Ronchi wasn't considered for the Test due to a chest infection.
