Black Caps hope to bat first in Jamaica Test

6:52 pm on 8 June 2014

The New Zealand cricket captain Brendon McCullum says he'll bat first if he wins tomorrow morning's toss for the first Test against the West Indies in Jamaica.

McCullum says the Kingston wicket looks bare, hard and slow and he's still not sure whether to play two spin bowlers.

He says batting first is a positve move, but New Zealand has to make sure it delivers a big first innings score in excess of 450 runs, which he says the team has achieved recently on a a number occasions.

The all rounder Corey Anderson has been ruled out of the first Test with a neck strain.
