Black Sticks men thump South Africa

The New Zealand men's hockey team has beaten South Africa 5-0 for their second straight win at the World Cup in The Netherlands.

Andy Hayward scored three times from penalty corners, while Simon Child and Shea McAleese scored the other goals.

Head coach Colin Batch says the quality of play against the South Africans was pleasing to see.

Batch says penalty corners were definitely a focus for them, they've got some good variations and players that flick well, so they wanted to utilise that.

The Black Sticks men go up against Argentina in their next Pool B game on Friday night, with matches against Germany and the Netherlands still to come.
