Black Caps batsmen struggle again

1:07 pm on 3 June 2014

Rain has cut short the first day of the New Zealand cricketers latest warm-up match in the Caribbean, with the Black Caps batsmen again struggling.

Batting first in the three-day game against a Jamaican XI, New Zealand declared their first innings closed at tea on 202 for nine.

The locals were unable to start their first innings with heavy rain falling at tea and forcing an end to the days play.

Kane Williamson top-scored with 47 for the tourists, while Jimmy Neesham was left not out on 28 and Ish Sodhi 21.

The possible Black Caps openers in next week's first Test against the West Indies missed out on runs, with Hamish Rutherford making 10, Tom Latham 16 and Peter Fulton a duck.

The first Test against the West Indies starts at Sabina Park in Kingston next Monday.
