Auckland's Campbell Grayson has joined the trend of New Zealand squash team members hitting their straps after being named in the Commonwealth Games team for Glasgow.

Grayson has taken out the Las Vegas Open on the PSA World Tour, beating top seed Cesar Salazar in the final.

It was a timely win for the world number 42, who was one of eight players named yesterday to represent New Zealand in Glasgow.

Salazar pushed Grayson all the way, taking the match to a fifth game decider before the New Zealand number one finally prevailed 11-8, 6-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-9.
