Hurricanes want repeat performance against the Blues

7:41 am on 26 May 2014

The Hurricanes captain Conrad Smith says they'll need to replicate Saturday night's near perfect performance if they're to continue their charge towards the Super Rugby playoffs.

The hosts stormed into finals contention with an emphatic 45-8 thumping of the defending champion Chiefs in Wellington, the home sides backline bamboozling their opposites in the six try to one romp.

The Hurricanes next face the bottom of the New Zealand conference Blues in Auckland, where Smith believes his side will again need to bring their best.

The Hurricanes are 1 point behind the New Zealand conference leading Crusaders who climbed to third in the overall standings after Saturday's win over the Highlanders, who now sit sixth and in the final playoff spot.

The Chiefs have dropped out of the playoff berths into 8th place.
