The San Antonio Spurs have drawn first blood in their NBA basketball Western Conference finals series, the hosts beating the Oklahoma City Thunder 122-105 in game one in San Antonio.

Oklahoma badly missed their best defender Serge Ibaka, with Rotorua's Steven Adams having the only block in the first half for the Thunder, as the Spurs ran up a 67-59 half-time lead.

Oklahoma edged the third quarter by a point to trail 67-59 but San Antonio ran away with it down the stretch.

Adams only played 17 minutes for four points. His team-mate Kevin Durant still led all scorers with 28 points, but big man Tim Duncan's 27 for the Spurs showed how vulnerable the Thunder were in the paint.
