The Auckland golfer Lydia Ko has finished in a tie for fifth at the latest LPGA event in Virginia.

Ko couldn't repeat her performance of Sunday, shooting a final round even par 71 to slip out of contention for the Kingsmill Championship title.

American Lizette Salas scored a four-shot win in the $1.5 million tournament.

A victory would have given Ko the number one world ranking.

Meanwhile Manawatu's Tim Wilkinson has finished tied for 22nd at the PGA Tour's Byron Nelson Championship in Texas.
