Pulse keep in touch with the playoffs

The Central Pulse have kept their ANZ netball championship season alive with a 49-45 win over the Northern Mystics in Palmerston North.

The Mystics led by one point at half-time, but a big second half from the Pulse with veteran shooter Donna Wilkins coming on to score 16 from 16 and captain Katrina Grant dominating in defence provided the home team the breathing space to seal the points.

The Mystics had their chances, showing glimpses of quality attacking play to take the lead on several occasions. But in mirroring much of their season, inconsistency proved the downfall of the visitors.

The Pulse remain fifth with 14 points. Melbourne and New South Wales top the standings with 16 points, while the Magic and Queensland also have 14.

The Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic easily beat the Canterbury Tactix 74-56 on Monday night to go back to outright second on the ladder.
