Weepu does a groin playing club rugby

The Blues didn't play on the weekend with their bye week, but the Auckland-based Super Rugby side's backline has taken another hit, with halfback Piri Weepu injured playing for his Wellington club Wainuiomata.

Blues coach Sir John Kirwan says the former All Black's "pretty definitely out" for the Sharks game at North Harbour on Friday.

Sir John says Weepu playing club rugby was always part of the plan but he's tweaked a groin and could tear it if he plays this weekend.
