Man U wait on van Gaal

The Dutch national football coach Louis van Gaal will have to wait until next week before being appointed as Manchester United's new manager.

British media have been reporting that the 62-year-old Dutchman's appointment was imminent, but although a "broad agreement" had been reached, "no deal has yet been signed".

United's vice-chairman Ed Woodward said an announcement would be made "in due course", and he also said sacked manager David Moyes would receive a payoff of "single digit millions".

Van Gaal is reported to have held a meeting with player-coach Ryan Giggs in Holland. It's thought Giggs has been offered the chance to work as van Gaal's assistant.
