Toulon make French final, Northampton reach English decider

12:41 pm on 17 May 2014

Toulon have reached French rugby's Top 14 final with a hard-fought 16-6 victory over Racing-Metro at Lille's Grande Stade.

England great Jonny Wilkinson kicked 11 points while Australian Matt Giteau scored the only try of the game in the 12th minute.

Toulon will face either Montpellier or Castres in a bid to claim their first title since 1992.

In England, Northampton staged a stirring fightback to reach the Premiership final after a late Tom Wood try clinched a 21-20 victory over holders and habitual finalists Leicester.

The defeat ended Leicester's remarkable run of reaching nine consecutive Premiership finals, leaving Northampton to enjoy the prospect of a second successive trip to Twickenham.

Saracens and Harlequins contest the second semi-final on Sunday.
