The New Zealand basketballer Steven Adams has produced his best playoff scoring performance to help the Oklahoma City Thunder win a wild game five over the Los Angeles Clippers 105-104.

Adams scored nine points, four rebounds and two blocks but was benched for the final minutes of the games as the Thunder staged a dramatic comeback to take a 3-2 lead in their NBA second round playoff series.

The Thunder scored eight unanswered points in the final 49 seconds including five from the MVP Kevin Durant, who had struggled all night, shooting just six for 22 for his 27 points.

Russell Westbrook led the Thunder with 38 points, while Blake Griffin was top scorer for the Clippers with 24 points.

Oklahoma City can seal the series with a win in game six in Los Angeles on Saturday.
