Sterling criticises Magic Johnson

Two weeks after he was banned by the National Basketball Association over racist comments, Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling has broken his silence to apologise.

But the 80-year-old's got himself into further trouble - while insisting on televsion that he was "baited" into making the provocative remarks, Sterling also criticised the target of his comments, Magic Johnson.

He told CNN that Johnson isn't a good example to children, because the former NBA star was promiscuous, and he had sex with every girl in every city in America, while he had AIDS.

Sterling says he went to his synagogue and prayed for Magic Johnson to get well after his diagnosis with HIV.
