The return of former All Black Tamati Ellison to the Hurricanes for next year's Super Rugby competition appears increasingly likely.
The 31-year-old former Hurricane, Blues and Highlander player is currently on a one-year deal with the Melbourne Rebels.
After two seasons in Japan he had hoped to return to New Zealand and play for the Highlanders in this year's competition but he was regarded as an overseas player, and the Highlanders were unable to get a dispensation for him.
Having met with Hurricanes captain Conrad Smith in Wellington recently further indicates Ellison could be about to return - although he says he has a couple of offers on the table.
