The uncapped shooter Tegan Caldwell is the surprise selection in Australia's Commonwealth Games netball squad for Glasgow.
The 25-year-old Melbourne Vixens player beat out the experienced New South Wales Swifts shooter Susan Pratley for the most contentious spot in the 12 strong squad.
Caldwell is likely to serve as a back up behind shooters Natalie Medhurst and Caitlin Bassett, with Caitlin Thwaites the other option.
Since winning the first two Commonwealth Games gold medals in 1998 and 2002, world champions Australia have lost out to New Zealand in Melbourne 2006 and New Delhi 2010.
The 2014 squad includes five players with prior Commonwealth Games experience.
Australian team: Laura Geitz (capt), Bianca Chatfield, Caitlin Bassett, Tegan Caldwell, Julie Corletto, Kimberlee Green, Renae Hallinan, Sharni Layton, Natalie Medhurst, Kimberley Ravaillion, Madison Robinson, Caitlin Thwaites.
